Delete your Ember account
Deleting your Ember account is permanent. It removes your account and the data attached to it from our servers, and it cannot be undone — there is no grace period, no recovery window, and no way to sign back in afterwards.
Delete it in the app
This is the fastest route and it needs nothing from us.
- Open Ember.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm with Yes, delete.
Deletion begins immediately. If your phone loses connection or the app closes partway through, Ember resumes the moment you open it again and tells you what actually happened. It will never report that your account survived when it did not.
Request deletion by email
Use this if you have already uninstalled Ember, or you cannot sign in. Email us from the account's own address: privacy@focusember.app
Send the message from the email address on the account and say that you want the account deleted. You do not need to include anything else.
We reply to that same address to confirm the request came from you. Once you confirm, we delete the account and email you when it is done. We complete verified requests within 30 days, and in practice far sooner.
We can only act on a request sent from the account's own email address — it is how we know the account is yours, and we will not delete an account on the word of a different address. If you signed in with Google or Apple, use the address that service gave us. If you used Hide My Email with Apple, send it from that relay address; it still reaches us and still proves ownership.
What gets deleted
Everything tied to your account:
- your sign-in, and any linked Google or Apple identity
- your profile — display name, username, and avatar
- your focus sessions and daily focus history
- your streaks, XP, and level progress
- your badges and challenges
- your friends and friend requests, in both directions
- the notification tokens registered for your devices
- your customer record with RevenueCat, who process our subscriptions
None of this is archived, quarantined, or held in a recoverable state. It is removed.
What we keep, and for how long
One anonymous record of the deletion survives for 90 days. It holds three things: a one-way hash of the deletion request, the outcome, and the date it finished. It does not hold your user id, your email address, your name, or any of your data. The user id is erased at the moment deletion completes, and the database itself rejects any such record that still carries one.
It exists so that your own devices can find out what happened. If a phone was offline, switched off, or replaced while the deletion was running, it presents that hash the next time it starts and receives a truthful answer. Without the record there is no answer at all — and a device that cannot tell "deleted" from "we don't know" must never resolve the difference by assuming your account is fine.
After 90 days that record is deleted too, and nothing about the deletion remains.
Your subscription is separate
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription, and does not refund one. Apple and Google own that billing relationship. We cannot cancel it on your behalf, and if you delete your account without cancelling, the subscription keeps renewing and keeps charging you.
Cancel it yourself, before or after deleting the account:
- iPhone or iPad — Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions (manage on Apple)
- Android — Play Store → your profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions (manage on Google Play)
